Cyanide & Happiness

I re-discover this every months or so, it always makes me giggle a lot.
Not much happening today I'm sooooo tired, up until late listening to the best man speech. Got to drive to Welwyn Garden City tonight for meal no.1 of 3 at the wedding weekend.

Jerusalem

Went to Jerusalem last night, the bar not the city. It's on Rathbone Street down some fire escape stairs and through giant huge wooden doors. We crashed an office Christmas party. It was great, 80's disco, gold paper crowns from the crackers, fat old guys trying to dance with anything that moved and had lady lumps.
Very festive, lots of lights and red decorations. Drank too much Vodka and Ginger Beer, skipped home singing 'All I want for Christmas is you'.
Forgot to take pictures :)

Ten reasons why snow is great

1. The whole London transport system shuts down - meaning even if you live just a few miles from your place of work you can legitimately claim you are unable to make it in until after lunch
2. Snow makes you look great, all pink cheeks and bright eyes
3. Snowball fights
4. Poor attempts and making iglu's, as a child this was my main motivation for playing in the snow
5. Snow men
6. Makes everything look beautiful.

This is the scrap of filthy rubbish strewn land bordering the Catford train stations, even with just frost it almost looks lovely

7. Ice Skating, if you try and skate on an ice skating rink in London at any other time than when it's been snowing you end up skating on 2cm of water with ice underneath - which if your clumsy like me is very messy!
8. Snow gives me the excuse to wear mittens as I find they keey my hands warm when mucking about with snow
9. The stunning crunch sound as you walk, one of the best sounds ever. Fact
10. Snow gives us the excuse to act like a child and it's OK, snow angles, roly poly's and running and jumping in massive snow piles!

Freezing!

It's gotten cold, finally winter is here. I hope it snows. I skidded to work this morning, looks like I wasn't the only one!

That's someone's wall. When I walked past the car I was able to peer inside, both airbags had gone off, I've never seen airbags before they were a pinkish colour, I expected them to be made from something white and silky, not sure why!

Denim Dungarees

I saw this man, a grown up, wearing denim dungarees!

I thought only babies and small children modeled this line of hideous fashion!

Christmas Decorations

Went into Soho, all the Christmas decorations are up even though it's still just November! The lights strung across Regent Street were terrible they looked like white microbes, apparently they are atoms! Not really sure of the festive link!
Unlike Carnaby Street and their giant paper chain style lights

The pictures do not do it justice it's so bright and eye catching,I can't wait for Christmas. The old decorations have to go up next week I don't care if it's too early!

Best Coffee I ever tasted!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of sampling a delicious cup of coffee from Flat White (17 Berwick Street). Run by some lovely kiwi chaps their flat white (similar to a latte but much better) is fantastic New Zealand import!

So new job, very busy, which means I can not really do anything other than work, It's cool though I rally like my job. It's been a month now and I've got over the new girl fear of having to walk across the office and feeling 10 pairs of eyes are watching (they're not it's just being in new surroundings makes you paranoid).
It's pretty cool all the stuff I get involved in, today I had to advise a printers on some banners we're getting made (those roll up ones that you take to conferences etc), look for cardboard postal boxes in white and of a specific dimensions (for press packs), call some people about assembling my boss' Ikea furniture (Definite great business idea setting up a decent web site and service to do this and charge £40 per hour!) and work my way through an old Media list trying to work out which journalists still work for their papers.
Very different to the boring old PA job before!
Any hoo back to the home stuff, I'm going to the gym tonight for the first time this week which I feel a bit naughty about considering how much i pay each month! Then I suppose I'll be home about 9, eat something and pass out. I'm a bit excited as the Husband is taking me out on a date tomorrow night, it's a surprise! I love surprises!

Autumn Already

I feel a bit cheated with all the terrible weather we have been having, I kept telling myself and anyone else who I discovered chatting baou tthe terrible summer that we would bask in lots of sunshine throughout September.
Yesterday I noticed that all the trees are already dropping their leaves.
I feel cheated!

First Contact

The cat started to approach us this morning, then he stopped to rest.

Mmmmmm Summer, Cornetto......

A nice girl in the office went and got yummy ice creams for us. She was given these instructions
"Something ice creamy, not a zoom, maybe Chocolate or Vanilla or Strawberry, a grown-up ice cream, I like Mars ice creams if that helps, just something yum you know?"

Cornetto's were the ultimate luxury when I was a kid, only my Dad was allowed one in our family, we had to have a ice pop or one of those white lemonade ones, sometimes maybe a choc ice.

Ungodly

It's not right and a little bit scary!

Charley Cat

Every morning on the way to work I past this feline beast. I get very jealous he's always just languidly lying in the sun or licking himself or sitting about the street indolently.

Here he is another time just loitering by a pub

oooooh pretty

Outside our house after the mad week of rain and floods

Blue Sky Day

Check out what we did to Trafalgar Square....

This was my favourite

Jesus Loves me

This kind beer drinking chap informed me that Jesus loves me whilst I was riding the tube. I love random acts of kindness, and you had best be nice to me in case Jesus is watching you

What happens when you put a boiled egg in the microwave?

I did something really silly. I decided that we would have boiled eggs on toast for breakfast. It was great until i peeled my egg and realised it was still runny inside (Runny yolk is good, runny white reminds me of snot). So I decided to pop the peeled half boiled egg into a ramekin and place it in the microwave for 30 seconds.
This is what happened.......

It was very hard to clean

I learnt a valuable lesson.

Nanna & Granddad's new Holiday home

It's in a scary scary place in Essex near Frinton and Walton on the Naze. Lovely beach but scary neighbourhood. Looks a bit Eastern European, everyone sits in their front garden and drinks beer while petting their pitbulls

Airport Signage

Spotted at London Gatwick - pretty graphic sign!

Jeepers Creepers

Ever see the film Jeepers Creepers? I think i spotted the brain eating demon in Soho Square, looks like he's angry - maybe the man he's talking too has no brains?

F Word

So I got on the F Word, the controversial Cookery show with the potty mouthed Gordon Ramsey.
It was filmed in an amazing restaurant set within a studio in Kentish Town last week. It was a long day but we did get to meet James May (Top Gear) who seemed friendly enough even when we all got a bit drunk and asked him if his girlfriend was the notorious baby killer* Louise Woodward (turns out it was his agents girlfriend who was not her but did unfortunately look very similar!). Janis Street Porter sat at our table while we tasted some meat she has huge man like hands terrible posture and was quite abrupt and looked bored by the whole thing!
Any hoo the food was OK I didn't pay for the starter - under cooked poached duck egg and peas, the main course was great Curried Halibut and dessert was simple yet delicous - pancakes with carmalised banana's and vanilla ice cream. It's going to be on in May hopefully after i have returned from our holiday!

Preacher Lady

It used to be Phil the "don't be a sinner be a winner" man (Full name Phillip Howard - check him out on Wikipedia) I used to spot everywhere, then Westminster Council slapped an ASBO on him and now he cannot preach within Westminster using his megaphone.
This lady now crops up everywhere, she doesn't need a Megaphone her shrill screaching can be heard from quite a distance. Not sure who she is but she mostlys haunts Covent Garden, Oxford Street and outside Charing Cross Station. Her Props include a walking stick (protection) Cardigan (in case she gets cold) and a lot of arm flailing heres a picture of her: -

Website of the Day

www.houseoftheorangemonkey.co.uk/monkey/hats

ha ha look at the little guys!

Spring Is here

Yes finally it has got a tiny bit warmer. I love London when the sun comes out. Everyone goes a bit sun crazy, sandles shorts and then everyone flocking outside to eat their lunch.

Here's Soho Square in the Sun

By the beginning of June most of the grass will have disapeared leaving an annoying redish brown dust that will make sitting ont he grass impossible unless that dusty look is your thing

I always walk past this funny little building is in the middle of the square and wondered what was inside, some one has smashed one of the little windows so now you can take a peak inside I was disapointed to just see stacks of chairs. I guess they must have concerts there in the summer (although I have never seen any!)

And finally view from up top, I like to just stand at the window and watch this view sometimes when clearly I should be working he he!

Mullets

Went to Alton Towers on Saturday a long 3 hour drive from London but well worth it. As well as some amazing rides there are also a lot of very strange and wonderful looking people to look at.
From most of the Scouse girls with sreaky yellow hair, orange faces and glam clothing - no coats to all the chavs in track suits and Liz Duke Jewellery. Also spotted a lot of Mullets I got a prime expample

Looks much more impressive from the side

It's spreading

Spotted this on the road works sign on Soho Square as I was leaving the office

I don't know who Greg is but he's obviously a bit of a nobber!

First Date

During my lunch hour I decided to try and walk off my hangover and just ended up wondering round Soho for a while. I walked past the bar and 'restaurant' JB tried to take me to on our first date.
I can't remember the exact date but it was towards the end of April in 2003. We drank a lot and did a fair amount of kissing on the couch.

After a few hours of constant drinking we were both quite drunk and hungry so JB suggested this place which is directly opposite the Green Man on Berwick Street

Of course I declined! It was Karma that meant my hand bag got stolen later that night and I was stuck in Central London with no money or keys and had to stay at JB's. I still tell people he arranged to have my handbag stolen so I'd go home with him!

Wow can't believe it's been nearly 4 years! What an amazing time it has been. If someone had told me 3 years ago that I would buy a house with JB I would have laughed a lot. But even after our rocky start I knew he was someone special and someone I had to make sure stayed in my life.
Any hoo 29 days until our holiday!

Cock & Balls Artiste strikes again

Yes he strikes again! This time on a quite residentail street in Forest Hill! I might just tour the world taking pictures of these artistic out pourings!

Mad Weather in London

Here's the view over Dean Street in Soho during a freak snow blizzard on Tuesday, it didn't settle.

Here's another picture, never eat at Red Veg it's a fast food Veggie place. I had a veggie burger there and then spent the whole feeling sick, by the evening I had been for 5 poo's!

Move over Bankys

The kids in Forest Hill have got a great sense of art (or humour), just look at this wonder I spotted this morning on the way to work. Could be the new Banksy?

Bikers on Frith Street, Soho

This was the madness hapening on Frith Street on Friday, I did try and take apicture of the massive Biker Dude on a 3 wheelin' Harley that had FIRE, yes actual flames, spurting fromt he exhaust.
I was a tad drunk and just managed this one shot and some black pictures which I think were just the inside of my bag!

Worlds Biggest

I forgot my phone today so I can't upload my pictures from the weekend, I'll do it tomorrow.
So today I have been researching the Worlds biggest - various roadside wonders that I'm hoping we can view during our Road trip in the US next month.
I found a whole site dedicated to the worlds biggest

We will get to visit the Worlds Largest Shoe in Bakersfield, CA and The worlds largest Cow skull in Arizona.

J came back from the stag weekend looking tired and broken, sporting a mini beard and a bad smell, he also brought me a box of yummy Lindt chocolates which are my Favourite Airport treat!
I'm developing a cough, I've spent my budgeted money for this month and it's another 11 days until pay day. Watch this space as I struggle to survive on £27!

Weight Watchers

Maybe in 1974 we weren't ready for Red Cabbage Jelly!

Stag Weekends

J has gone to Bratislava for a Stag weekend. I'm a bit jealous I'd like to go there and fire guns and play on the Tobogan Run.
I'm trying not to think about strippers or naked mud wrestling. Some of the boys at twork have been teasing me and sending me links to all sorts of mad stuff that you can do out there.
Ah well at least I get to sleep like a Starfish in the middle of the bed and eat chocolate for breakfast lunch and dinner!
Tonight we're drinking after work although I made myself a quasi promise that i would be home by 9pm I doubt that will happen!

I'm almost drooling atthe thought of a Cosmopolitan, which is weird as normally I don'y like to drink cocktails out of those wide glasses as I always end up spilling it everywhere!

The basic Cosmopolitan calls for two parts vodka, one part Cointreau and one part cranberry juice with a squirt of lime. Pour it in the shaker over ice and stir until you get frost on the outside. Strain it in a chilled cocktail glass. You can play with the recipe quite a bit. Absolut Vanilla or Citron make for very lovely versions of the original.

Super Tramp

Super Tramp - Have you seen him. I've spied him a few time rooting through the bins round Soho Square. I've had quite a few conversations with people about him that mostly go like this "Hey Have you seen that Super tramp guy"
Friend "Nope"
Me "You must have, wears a big pink cape and a purple visor"
Friend "Nope, think I'd notice someone like that".
Well today I witnessed Super Tramp banging on the windows of Pizza Express and loudly declaring that he was 9 years old, and I now have the evidence that he exisits.

Although it makes me giggle I did wonder after why he wasn't being looked after some where but then I guess he's happy wandering around looking for things to fight crime with in the bottom of bins.

Carry on as Normal

So the last few days have been pretty quite. I got locked in a dark train for 20 minutes at London Bridge when there was some kind of malfunction, the doors slammed shut and all the lights went out. Everyone just carried on reading and sitting there despite the near darkness.

On the way home last night I found giant bottles of Corona terrorising the Soho neighbourhood near Shaftsbury Avenue
